Shawn Laws
Name: Shawn Laws How long have you been in Triathlon: I'm a newby! I've only just made the switch to triathlon having ran for the last thirty or so years! I fancied a change and love the variety that it brings. Mixing up the training, for me, is a great way to stay fit around my busy lifestyle and challenge myself athletically. Greatest achievement in Triathlon: I completed my first standard distance triathlon in the summer of 2015 and was instantly hooked by the challenge and buzz of the event. I feel like I have the potential to be more competitive and do well in the sport. I'm looking forward to sharpening my swimming and cycling skills and then transferring my running skills to a new sport and adventure. Greatest achievement outside of Triathlon: I'm proud to be a daddy to my young son Thomas and professionally I'm the Head Teacher of a Primary School in County Durham. I've run all over the world, but enjoyed most success competing locally in road and cross country races. What you love about F4L Triathlon Coaching and what attracted you to us in the first place: I went along to a local triathlon club and spoke with Andy Stevens, who suggested that I looked at the F4L website for support and guidance. I read about the coaching packages, and having messed about with training in the summer, realised that in order to achieve my potential I would really benefit from a schedule of training, a coach, who would push me on and to whom I could ask those daft questions and finally a team structure that would push me to a higher level. What are your targets in Triathlon over next two years: I'm looking forward to pulling on the team colours for the first time, seeing for myself what I am capable of and also showing the team what I can do. I hope to start by being competitive on a local level and then long term to qualify for a championship and wear the Team GB vest at age group level. In one line sum up F4L Triathlon Coaching: Together Everyone Achieves More (TEAM)
