Why do Triathletes need to do strength training?

It’s the sessions triathletes will skip. It’s not actually swimming, cycling or running, why do it?

Your strength program should develop your functional movement, improve strength and develop you into a robust athlete. Strength sessions are proven to be critical for the longevity in endurance sport.

This is particularly true for female athletes, juniors and athletes over the age of 50. That said, everyone can and will benefit from a strength training program to help develop and sustain their performance in Triathlon.

Strength training for triathletes should be included within a comprehensive performance-based training plan.

Within any F4L Triathlon Coaching athlete’s program there will be S&C.

Strength & Conditioning improves the body’s ability to sustain longer periods of training – however it takes time and consistent training. We deliver a program which empowers Triathletes to develop skilful strong & robust race ready athletes.

An example of some of the exercises we encourage at F4L Triathlon Coaching are:

Bodyweight Squat

Press Up

Hinge

Bridge

Shoulder rotation at 90 degrees

We also deliver a group F4L Triathlon Coaching session in partnership with Your Optimal Performance:
